One Canadian Who Is Not Ashamed To Support America

One thing I will NOT miss about Oman (and the region as a whole) is its constant America and Israel bashing in their newspapers. Writers, and people in general, are always going on and on about “the bias in Western papers” yet do not consider the blatant bias in their own.
Here is a speech that was made famous by a Canadian, Gordon Sinclair, some 35 years ago.
I still agree with the main point. America, like ANY country, is far from perfect but it is still far better than the majority of the nations around the world.
I just dare you to watch! You might actually learn something.
Here are two specific parts of the speech I really appreciate:
1)”You talk about scandals and the Americans put theirs right in the store window for everyone to look at.” That is SO true! Most newspapers around the world avoid anything that might make their nation (or leaders…)look bad.
2) “Our neighbors have faced it alone, and I am one Canadian who is damned tired of hearing them kicked around. They’ll come out of this thing with their flag high. And when they do, they’re entitled to thumb their noses at the lands that are gloating over their present troubles. I hope Canada is not one of these. But there are many smug, self-righteous Canadians.”
