Some Folks Living on Jabal Shams

This is Saif and his father Solomon who make a living selling souvenirs on the top of Jabal Shams. The goods they make and sell include keychains made of wool (2 rials) and walking sticks (5 rials).

Let Our Light Shine

“Ye are the light of the world. A city that is set on an hill cannot be hid. Neither do men light a candle, and put it under a bushel, but on a candlestick; and it giveth light unto all that are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.” (Matthew 5:14-16)

“The Grand Canyon of Oman” – Jabal Shams

Jabel Shams (Arabic for “Mountain of the Sun“) is the highest mountain in Oman with the highest peak at 3075 m. It is part of the Al Hajar Mountain Range.

At the bottom before the slow ride up. One definitely needs a 4X4 to make this trip.

Abdullah and Hamid near the edge of the top peak

Sitting on the edge. Pretty scary looking down…
