We ventured to The Platinum Hotel in Al Khuwair for dinner one evening this week. I’ve always been impressed with the look of this cute hotel which has a unique pinkish grey look to it. I found out that “the rich hand-crafted pink stone was brought specially from Jodhpur, India, and that’s what gives it the regal look of the Emperors era“.
“The Platinum, a newly opened non-alcoholic hotel that depicts a fusion of Islamic & Moghul heritage, ultra modern facilities and the famed Omani culture, is all set to redefine hospitality in the Sultanate of Oman“. If you do decide to come for dining, you should be warned that parking spots are limited (except for hotel guests).
The Platinum is quite a stylish hotel!
There are a number of “Theme Nights on the Rooftop” that sound like incredible deals!
Cafe Arabica is on the 1st floor. It has the exact same menu as the rooftop/poolside restaurant, Samah.
You can also choose to sit indoors near the rooftop pool.
Nice view of Muscat from the restaurant!
Dining outdoors on the rooftop is a great option now that autumn is here!
The bread has arrived! Let the dining begin!
I ordered the Broccoli, Apple and Almond Cappaccino Soup (OR 2.6) It sounded like such a bizarre soup that I just had to try it. It wasn’t half-bad!
My friend enjoyed his Asparagus Soup. (RO 2.6)
My wife said her Beef Consumme tasted like hot water with a bit of salt thrown in (RO 3). She decided to add a few spoonfuls over her rice but that was enough for her. Avoid this soup. We seriously wonder if they forgot to add something to this dish! 😦
The iced tea at Platinum was pretty good. (RO 1) They are supposed to have Mint, Spiced, Cranberry, Thai, Bishudi (?!), Lemon and Peach (7 choices) but only Mint and Lemon (2 choices) were available when we dined there!
Plenty of salads to choose from. We’ll have to try one out on our next visit.
The Chicken Satey (RO 3) was very good (a bit spicy), especially the peanut butter sauce that went with it.
Another good appetizer is Jinga Nishat (RO 4.2). Jumbo Prawns with basil and cream yoghurt.
My honey’s lamb rack was delicious! (RO 6)
My friend and I went with the fish and chips (RO 5.8). This was a very good meal! If you’re curious to know about other main dishes on the menu, here they are:
And here is the page of “Quick Bites”:
The rooftop restaurant offers nice views of Muscat:
