Christians in the Middle East Under Attack? So It Would Appear.

Who is this guy to say it is “necessary to destroy all the churches of the region”?!  Why doesn’t he focus on his own country and mind his own business anyway?    “Imagine what would happen if a Christian counterpart to the Grand Mufti, say the Pope, were to declare that all mosques in Italy must be destroyed; imagine the nonstop Western media frenzy that would erupt, all the shrill screams of ‘intolerance’ and ‘bigot,’ demands for apologies if not resignation, nonstop handwringing by sensitive politicians, and worse.” (Raymond Ibrahim)

The Saudi government needs to change its own intolerant ways before it can promote religious dialogue abroad.” (Christoph Wilcke, a senior Middle East researcher at HRW (Human Rights Watch), referring to a Saudi-funded “centre for interreligious and intercultural dialogue” established in Vienna last year.)  Hear! Hear!

Thank God the people of Oman are not as intolerant as their neighbors!  And here’s another fine example of “tolerance” from another of Oman’s neighbors, Yemen: http://edition.cnn.com/2012/03/18/world/meast/yemen-american-killed/

Makes it seem like Christians in the Middle are under attack.  Here is an article about that very topic, not from some western publication like CNN or BBC but from Al Jazeera.

  1. Ahhh… Saudis never fail to entertain.

    • Haha! I guess that’s one way of looking at it – entertainment! But unfortunately I know it must not be much of a laughing matter for any Christians who have decided to live and work there.

  2. I’ll just say I’m blessed. We never know what we have until it is under threat or taken away. Praise God for the spirit of tolerance in Oman. I truly am able to worship here without price or ‘religious’ conditions.

  3. Mandy,
Yes, we Christians in Oman truly are blessed to have such freedoms in an otherwise intolerant region! Long live His Majesty Sultan Qaboos!

  4. Honestly, the Prophet Mohammed only made an issue about non-muslims living in certain areas, like Makkah ect (which they were allowed to enter only for political or educational purposes [which today is forbidden]). So if the KSA Mufti is going to be all, get rid of those churches, maybe he should get the lazy Saudis IN Mecca to live without their Christian and Hindu imported (and often abused and always underpaid) maids first. Just saying. And Maybe he should be like, oh yeah, Islam doesn’t have Kings, and get rid of “the guardian of meccah” ect, before asking ignorantly others to do [what Islam doesn’t say to] what he himself is not brave enough to do [which Islam does]. END RANT.

  5. And may God/Allah protect all the innocents, ameen, and change or punish those who have innocent blood and livelihoods on their hands. Ameen.
