Wed. Night Buffet & BBQ @ Olivo’s Restaurant & Terrace

Wednesday night, the wife and I made a reservation at Olivo’s Coffee Shop (which is more of a proper all-day dining restaurant than a coffee shop!) at Radison Blu in Al Khuwair.

The BBQ buffet on Wednesday nights is 15.5 OR/person (inclusive of tax) or 19.5 OR if you want to partake of unlimited selective alcoholic beverages.

The view of the restaurant from our table that was pretty much in the far corner.  It’s always a good idea to call ahead and book a reservation. (Tel: +968-2448-7777)  One half of the restaurant was booked by a birthday party on the night we went.

I personaly think it’s a bit too hot to be sitting outside now that summer’s here but there were some who chose to sit outside.

Here is something that would have been nice to know before we left: the Wednesday BBQ buffet includes free access to the pool until 10pm!!!  (Otherwise, use of the pool is normally 7 rials.)  Not a bad deal at all.  If only we had brought our bathing suits!

There was only one choice of soup but it was fantastic – Leek and potatoes. (So good that I enjoyed a second bowl!)

This pic is of my second plate. There are plenty of salads and choices of breads and pastas and such which made up my first plate.  We were impressed with all the BBQ options: hammour, kingfish, beefsteak, calamari, prawns, chicken tikka, cigali (or slipper lobster), and lamb kofta.

My wife tried the cigali on her second plate and found that it was not quite as delicious as “true lobster”.  I didn’t try it as I was already too stuffed.

Lots of pork available at the buffet for you pork lovers out there.

Make sure you save room for dessert.  If you order filter coffee (as I did) (1.282 OR), they give you a nice large pitcher that’s good for at least 2 cups.

One satisfied customer! 🙂

All in all, a very enjoyable evening out.  For 2 buffets, a large Aquafina (1.5 L) water, 1 filter coffee (plus 17% tax and service charge) for a grand total of 37.807 OR.

Other options at Olivo’s include:

  • A la carte menu is always available
  • Daily Brunch from 12pm to 3pm
  • Thursday Bubbly Brunch (unlimited flow)
  • Daily Super Breakfast Buffet at only 10.5 OR (7am-11am)
  • Sunday evening is “Italian Night” (13.5 OR/19.5 OR)

Anyone else been to Olivo’s for any of their buffets?  If so, how was your experience?  If you’ve never dined at Radisson Blu, click here to see all their dining options (including the highly recommended Al Tajin Grill).
