Music, sweet music!
I love this “music flashmob” from Banc Sabadell. I especially love the expression of wonder on the face of the gentleman at 04:10 into the video. Like the person who sent me this link through email commented, “Music be the food of community.” Indeed! Watch it and enjoy. Beethoven’s Symphony No. 9 is considered one of the all time greatest in classical music. It is also the first symphony that was set to lyrics. Here are some of the original lyrics: (translated into English of course from the original German)
“Let us sing more cheerful songs, more full of joy!”
“Join in our song of praise;
But any who cannot must creep tearfully
Away from our circle.”
“Even the worm can feel contentment,
And the cherub stands before God!”
“Gladly, like the heavenly bodies
Which He set on their courses
Through the splendor of the firmament;
Thus, brothers, you should run your race,
As a hero going to conquest.
“You millions, I embrace you.
This kiss is for all the world!”
“Brothers, above the starry canopy
There must dwell a loving Father.”
“Do you fall in worship, you millions?
World, do you know your creator?”
“Seek him in the heavens;
Above the stars must He dwell.”
Here’s another great called “Sing” from Gary Barlow and the Commonwealth Band featuring Military Wives:
Some of the lyrics: “Some words they can’t be spoken only sung
So hear a thousand voices shouting love.“
