Sheba’s Steak House, Hilton Salalah Resort

On our first evening in Salalah, my wife and I decided to try out Sheba’s Steak House at the Hilton Salalah Resort.  It seemed like a great restaurant for fine dining and we were curious to know how it would compare to some of the great restaurants we’ve tried in Muscat.

Let me go off on a side trail here about the Salalah fascination with “Sheeba”…I’ve always heard that the Queen of Sheba came from Ethiopia or Yemen.  In my 5 trips to Ethiopia, it was unmistakable that Ethiopians are convinced she came from their country.  Yemen has also been considered a potential site of her ancient empire.  Readers may be surprised to learn that Dhofaris believe she hailed from Salalah.  The ruins of an ancient port here, Samhuran, is known locally as “Queen Sheeba’s Palace”!  Google it and you might be impressed with the number of sites discussing it…okay, back to our evening at the steakhouse! 🙂

You couldn’t ask for a more romantic setting.  Several of the tables are right next to the windows with great views of the pool and beautiful grounds of the resort.

We both ordered the Australian RibEye (13 OR each) which was incredibly delicious!  As suggested, I ordered a glass of Cabernet Sauvignon (2.7 OR) to help wash the steak down. Mmm!

My wife decided to turn her order into a “Surf and Turf” with this half lobster at 8 Omani rials.  I had a sample of wifey’s lobster which was great but I was saving room for dessert. 😉

The Papapya and Lychee Mousse was a great choice! (2.6 OR)

We were quite impressed with the food and service at Sheba’s Steak House.  If you are ever looking for a good restaurant in the Salalah area, you might want to check this place out! (Tel:+968-2321-1234)

Anyone reading this ever dine at Sheba’s Steak House in Salalah? If so, how was your experience?
