Welcome back, dear readers! It has been quite a while! After a nice, long, relaxing 3 month vacation in the Philippines, it was extremely hard to motivate myself to get back to blogging upon our return to Oman in early September. Blogging is awesome and has provided us with many blessed opportunities including meeting some fascinating people here.Unfortunately, this blog has also brought a lot of unwanted attention over the years and so I had to give it some serious thought as to whether I should continue blogging at all. Then there was the matter of my space upgrade (50GB) running out at the end of the summer. Because I have 32.4 GB of material on this blog (mostly taken up with pictures), I had to decide whether I was willing to pay another $90 US (around 35 OR) for another year space upgrade. Thanks for all the emails from readers/friends checking in on me to see if all is okay. Life is great, thanks for asking!
It’s nice that Freddy is still going strong on his blog, Muscat Mutterings, which continues to be one of my main sources of “What’s Happening in Oman”. “Wanda in Oman” has an interesting new blog (that I am subscribed to) that I recommend checking out (titled “Oman? Oh My!!). Muscat Moms has proven itself to be a great resource as well. My wife joined it months ago and I always notice handy tips on life in Oman. Not only does it contain lots of helpful info for anyone who is a parent in Oman; it’s also a great source for buying and selling things. They have over 3,000 members (closed group you must join on facebook) and a number of them are gents as well! 😉 (Feel free to let us know of other blogs of websites that you feel are great sources of info here in Oman in the comment section if you know of others.)
After attending a friend’s art exhibition last night in Muttrah, (will post about that soon!) I have been persuaded to start this puppy back up. My deepest apologies for letting the comments go unanswered for so many months and for not being more faithful in answering so many emails. I will slowly try to answer them one by one over the next few weeks.
Once again, welcome back, dear readers! 🙂
Welcome back!
Hope you and the family are well 🙂
Yes, Andy, was wondering what happened to you! Interesting that you know Freddy at Muscat Mutterings, he is a good friend of our family, Particularly of my daughter and husband. We used to hang out on their back porch and drink beer ++ in the dripping heat of summer. cheers
Welcome back,Andy!
My guess was that ”somebody” calmed you down” on purpose,I’m so happy it was not truth.
Keep us updated with the news.how about uploading some pictures from Philippines!
About time, welcome back mate!
Welcome Back. We miss U!
Hi Andy, was wondering where you’ve been!
I think your space issue should be solved at the core: Your problem is that you are uploading your pix in a very large size. You need to learn how to resize your images into a more reasonable size, that should reduce your space requirements by up to 75% for sure.
Welcome back andy.. Your blog is of great use for people like us who like to explore. .
Thanks a ton
Renjith

Thanks a lot for the support and comments, folks!
The family’s all doing well, thanks for asking, Heather! Blue Chi, I hear you about the pic size issue, but I like having HIGH resolution pics available to readers. I know it totally slows things down for some but I prefer quality over speed any day! 😉 To answer your question, Harshit, I’ve been blogging since 2005 (in Korea) but only been blogging in Oman since the end of 2007.
