When I get a chance, I’ll write up a review of our recent visit to Palayok (“hot plate”) restaurant in Al Khuwair. For now, I want to tell you some more ways that those of us in Oman can aid those in such dire circumstances in the Philippines. First of all, you can buy one of these t-shirts: These tshirts sell for 4 Omani Rials (about $10 US) and all proceeds will go directly towards helping those affected by Typhoon Yolanda in the Philippines. Why not buy a bunch for some Filipino friends you may have in Muscat?!

Another way to support typhoon victims is to attend the “Dinner for a Cause” evening on November 29th:I was just speaking with the owner of Palayok, Maria Dela Cerna Mehrez, who told me that those wishing to attend should contact Palayok’s Al Khuwair branch to book a spot as there will only be place for 130. So far, they have more than 50 booked. Artists will have pieces of art up for bidding (silent bidding) with all proceeds going to help those in the Philippines.
If you happen to be an artist who would like to contribute some art to this worthy cause on Friday, November 29th, please contact Neneng at +96897682819
The Filipinos of Oman have even started a facebook page to try and raise support for this important cause called “Rebuild the Visayas“.At the event, they will selling a 2nd style of t-shirt to raise funds to help out as much as they can:
A big thanks to Marissa Dela Cerna Mehrez and the staff of Palayok for being a channel of blessing to those in need!
