Dubai Aquarium & Underwater Zoo

The aquarium in the Dubai Mall is quite a sight to behold!  This is the 2nd largest aquarium in the world with 2.6 million gallons of water (or 10 million liters).  The largest aquarium in the world is Georgia Aquarium in Atlanta, Georgia, USA.While you can pay to enter and see everything on display in the Aquarium and Underwater Zoo, shoppers get an amazing look at the Aquarium without paying one cent!  That’s because The Dubai Aquarium and Underwater Zoo is the holder of the Guinness World Record for the ‘World’s Largest Acrylic Panel’.  The panel you see above measures 32.88 metres wide x 8.3 metres high x 750 mm thick and weighs 245,614 kgs. (from the Dubai Aquarium website)  “At 750 mm thick, the acrylic viewing panel is built to withstand the enormous pressure of 10 million litres of water used in the aquarium, but transparent to give visitors clear views of the thousands of marine animals on display.  The Panel is free to view for all Dubai Mall visitors.”I’m glad I got to see this for myself.  Here’s a video I put together for your viewing pleasure:

Dubai Mall: The Souq

I love The Souq in The Dubai Mall!  It’s on the groundfloor and everything has an Arabic design to it.  The majority of the shops in this area sell perfume or jewelry.  There are a total of 101 shops in The Souq.
