Boatride from the Beach of Bandar Al Jissah to the Sea Arch
Abdullah, an Omani local, waiting to take those interested out for a boat ride
Abdullah was suddenly all smiles once we agreed to go out on his boat. The normal price is 3 RO to the sea arch and back. Abdullah asked 5RO and because we didn’t feel like haggling with an elder gentlemen and we still thought it was so cheap, we agreed.
We were very glad that we decided to take the boat ride out to the sea-arch. A 3-5 RO price for such a beautiful view of the Muscat coast is well worth it! If you ever come out to Qantab/Bandar Al Jissah and some locals hit you up for a boat-ride, don’t let the opportunity pass you by. Say, “Yes”!
A Day at the Beach
So nice to spend time at the beach with my love!
Tracey Mackenzie, also from Canada, soaking in the rays while she chats on her cell phone!
Beach babe!
Qantab village
These fish were swept unto the shore by the strong waves! Fresh fish, anyone?!
If you zoom in, you can see several dead fresh fish on the shore.
And a not so fresh fish…sometimes it’s pretty disgusting what you can find rotting on the beach!
It’s unbelievable how much rubbish we see on some of the beaches! What a shame that the beauty of these beaches can be tarnished by quite a few lazy people (tourists and locals). Something for you to think about on this “Earth Day“, 2009.
Bandar Beach & Surrounding Area
If you look real close, you’ll notice that a lot of these rocks look like they have been placed upright like markers of some type. After asking some locals picnicking nearby, I found out that it is a gravesite! Most Omanis follow a sect of Islam called “Ibadhism” and one part of their belief system is anonymity in death.
Can you spot my car?
