It seems that the longer I live overseas, the less I feel like a true Canadian. I had no idea that Monday, October 8th was Canadian Thanksgiving until a friend from church invited our family (and a couple of others) over for dinner. Because Sunday is the Lord’s Day, perhaps Sunday is an even better day to celebrate Thanksgiving. Click here to learn more about Canadian Thanksgiving and the History of this holiday.
The turkey we had tonight was fabulous and the company was even better! We had the whole works including mashed potatoes and gravy, cranberry sauce, apple pie and my favorite…
PUMPKIN PIE!
I’m feeling especially thankful for so many things tonight but at the top of my list is the health and well-being of my family. Thank you, Lord, for watching over us and being our great Protector, Provider and Guide! So, dear reader, what are you thankful for today?
“A Day of General Thanksgiving to Almighty God for the bountiful harvest with which Canada has been blessed – to be observed on the 2nd Monday in October.” (Proclaimed by Canadian Paliament on Jan. 31, 1957.)
