Oman Christian Fellowship (OCM) in Muscat

>Well, I finally found a good church to attend, PRAISE GOD! Services are held on Fridays here as most people work Saturday-Wednesday and so Thursday and Friday are the weekend here. In Muscat, there are 2 church compounds: one in the district of Ghala and the other in Ruwi. Ruwi is more of the touristy, popular area and closer to my hotel so I went there. They have a Catholic Church (“The Peter and Paul Church”), a Coptic church and maybe even a few other flavors but I finally found a normal Protestant Church service that starts at 9:30am. The members there were extremely (somewhat and superficially) friendly and helpful. My first day of worship there happened to be OCM’s 22nd year in Oman anniversary celebration. Everyone was dressed colorfully for the event, balloons were everywhere and there were several performances to mark the occasion. Members from sister churches in Sohar and Salalah were even there to celebrate what God has done! Pastor Boyong, from the Phillipines, has been the pastor there the entire 22 years. Everyone seems to know the Bible very well; he would often ask what it says in certain verses to the members and they would all shout out the verses perfectly. Awesome!
My only concern now is that I cannot come to Muscat EVERY weekend unless I get a car. (And I cannot get a car until I get my residency visa and replace my driver’s license that was lost while on vacation in Canada!) One step at a time, I guess. In the meantime, I hope to come at least every 2nd week,.
Nevertheless, I am very thankful to have found a wonderful church in this otherwise barren land!! “And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching.” (Hebrews 10:24-25)
