Today at 5pm, Oman and Jordan square off at Sultan Qaboos Sports Complex. (AFC Round 4, Group B qualifying match) I may not be a big football fan, but I’m a fan of Oman! “If the Red Warriors can beat Jordan, they could move into second place in Group half-way through this qualifying stage. The country that finishes second in the Group will automatically qualify for the 2014 World Cup in Brazil.” (from OFA website) Coach Paul Le Guen said that having the home-field advantage is key. They are expected to play before one of the largest crowds in Oman Footbal history.
Let’s do it, Red Warriors!
Post Game UPDATE: Oman beat Jordan 2-1!!
Read about it here on Fifa.com. I like this tweet from Ali Al Habsi, Oman’s famous international goalkeeper: “I would like to thank all the supporters who made the difference today. A special thank to every fan (who) came to the stadium.” You can follow Ali Al Habsi (Currently playing for Wigan Athletic FC) on twitter here.
Great job, Oman! Now to beat Japan on November 14th! 🙂
